What insurances do you accept?

» Aeta
» BCBC (excluding the plan through the UofU)
» Cigna
» DMBA
» EMI
» Magellan
» PEHP

Please note that not all providers are paneled with each of the insurances listed above.
Will my health insurance pay for services?
Individual Therapy: Most health insurance plans do cover mental health therapy. Your plan may require you to pay a co-pay, deductible, or co-insurance (amount due after deductible has been met). We recommend you contact your insurance company to find out about what is covered by your specific plan as coverage varies greatly between insurance providers and plans.
Couples/Family Therapy: We do not bill insurance for couples therapy as it is not considered medical treatment and does not involve a diagnosable individual, which insurance requires for coverage.
Group Therapy: This also depends on the insurance plan. If your plan does not cover group therapy, the cost is $40 per group.
Yoga: Yoga groups facilitated by a clinician who is a trained Clinical Yoga Practitioner can be billed to insurance. Yoga classes run by a yoga instructor are paid by each participant.
Other Wellness Services: At this time all wellness services are paid by the client.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
When you enter our office, you’ll enter a calming environment that invites reflection and wellness. Please check-in at the iPad, even if there is a receptionist at the desk, as this alerts your clinician that you’ve arrived for your appointment. Take a seat in the waiting area while you wait for your therapist.
Your first session at Rooted Counseling and Wellness will involve discussing your reasons for seeking therapy and the clinician gathering your history in order to complete their evaluations (required for insurance billing). This initial meeting is an opportunity to establish a comfortable and trusting relationship with your therapist. This will allow you both to develop a plan tailored to your needs.
How often will I have therapy sessions?
At the beginning of treatment, it’s recommended that you attend sessions weekly. Session may be less frequent depending on need and therapist availability.
What if the therapist I want to meet with is not in-network with my insurance?
If you would like to see a provider who is not in-network with your insurance, we can provide you with superbill to provide your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you. If you need to see someone in-network we have many other wonderful providers and will work to find the best fit for you.
Can I be a client if I live outside of Utah?
Due to state licensing mandates, clients receiving therapy from Rooted Counseling & Wellness must live in the state of Utah and be located within the state at the time of each appointment. Workshops, classes, coaching, and retreats are available for all to attend, regardless of locale.
What are your hours?
Sessions are by appointment only. Our standard hours are M-TH from 8am-8pm and Fridays from 8am-4pm. Please note that evening hours are limited and may require time on a waitlist. Some of our providers offer evening hours Saturday appointments.
Do you have a waitlist?
Many of our providers have a waitlist. Wait times range from 1-3 months. If you would like to meet with a certain provider, contact our Intake Coordinator to be placed on the waitlist of your preferred provider.
Is therapy confidential?
Therapy is covered under the Health Insurance Privacy & Accountability Act (HIPAA). Rooted Counseling & Wellness cannot confirm or deny you involvement in therapy without a client signing a Release of Information. If using insurance, the only information your insurance company will receive is a billing code and diagnose code.
While your privacy is of high importance, please know that a therapist is required by law to report any of the following:
» Suspected abuse or neglect of a minor, dependent adult, or elderly person.
» If a client threatens serious body harm to another person
» If a client expresses intent to harm themselves.
The therapist will make every effort to work in a collaborative way to ensure the safety of the client and others.
Can I use my EAP benefits?
At this time, we are contracted as an EAP provider with Magellan Health and ESI. We are not an EAP provider for most insurances as our clinic specializes in longer term trauma therapy whereas EAP services are more present concerns and solution-focused therapy. If you’d like to use your regular insurance benefits, we’d be happy to assist you in getting scheduled.
